My Favourite Book
It’s impossible to be an educated person without good books. Most of the books are to be read just once, others can be read plenty of times. And each time you find something new and useful as you turn the same pages of your favourite books. I am fond of books about adventures and great people, detective stories and science fiction. I enjoy reading them when I have spare time. When you read books you find yourselves in different lands. Together with the characters of the books you climb high mountains, go by ship in the stormy sea, and fly into space. In a ward, you have a lot of adventures.
There are books and writers that everybody knows. "Mary Poppins" by Pamela Travers, "Winnie-the-Pooh" by Alan Milne, and of course "The adventures of Tom Sawyer" by Mark Twain. My favorite book is "Tom Sawyer". This is one of the most famous children's books. The American writer Mark Twain (his real name - Samuel Clemens) wrote this novel in 1876. And since then, they were read by many generations of readers. I admire the endless antics of Tom - fibber and instigator of the boyish company. For it was Mark Twain's first novel, much of what it has become, he took from memories of his childhood. Thanks to his experience, the literary talent and gentle humor, the characters of the book confront us as living. Tom Sawyer, for example, not only knew how to turn a boring life in an exciting game. He saved from death a man unjustly accused of murder, fell in love, took the blame for someone else's wrongdoing. He also withstood the test of hunger and fear in the cave and found a secret chest of gold. Tom Sawyer was a boy with wild imagination. He was sometimes naughty and never quiet. But he was often noble and always bright and full of ideas.
I also enjoy books about animals. Have you ever heard of Bambi? He is a baby dear who is famous all over the world. "Bambi" is a book by an Austrian writer Felix Salthen. This author is a poet who feels nature deeply and loves animals.
